Seven choices for arts and entertainment in the coming days, from a friendly Greek fair to Pixies to a top pianist playing in New London.

God, Guts, Pulitzer

Quinnipiac University’s Center for Religion will host a discussion by Michael O’Loughlin titled “God, Guts, and the Pulitzer: Religion and Journalism in a Time of Social Unrest” at 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 in the former College of Arts and Sciences Center, building 2, on the Mount Carmel Campus (New Road entrance). The event is free and open to the public. O’Loughlin is the national correspondent for America: The Jesuit Review and the author of “The Tweetable Pope: A Spiritual Revolution in 140 Characters.” O’Loughlin will talk about his writing on religion both in the United States and abroad.

St. Basil Fair

Volunteers get together to cook up a big element of the 14th annual Greek Cultural Fair at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church in New Haven. The parish’s major fundraising effort runs Sept. 21-24 on the parish grounds at 1 Tower Lane. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the final day. Souvlaki and gyro will be freshly grilled, and the cooks of the parish will prepare traditional spinach (spanakopita) and cheese (tyropita) pies, fresh salad, pastries and coffee. Fall Free for All

The Audubon Arts District opens up to the public Sept. 23 for a free day of sample classes, live performances, face painting, demonstrations, and special food and shopping offers. The Fall Free for All (last year’s event is pictured) will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Audubon Street, where some free parking is available at the Audubon Garage starting at 11 a.m. (enter on Orange Street). Performances will take place on Leeney Plaza, located in the middle of Audubon Street, which will be closed to traffic.

At the Beinecke

John Lydgate and Benedict Burgh’s “Secretum Secretorum” (late 15th century) is part of the exhibition “Making the Medieval English Manuscript: The Takamiya Collection,” an assortment of medieval English manuscripts that had been in private hands but is on display for the first time in the United States in the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library (121 Wall St., New Haven) through Dec. 10. Four unique Chaucer manuscripts, numerous devotional rolls and other works are included.

Miller at the MAC

Singer-musician Sheri Miller will perform at the season opener of the Milford Arts Council’s LiVE @ the MAC music series Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. Miller returns to MAC (40 Railroad Ave. S.) after a performance that captivated the audience the entire evening with her own music and her renditions of Beatles songs. Connecticut College coup

Boston-based chamber orchestra A Far Cry will play with noted pianist Simone Dinnerstein at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 in Palmer Auditorium at Connecticut College in New London. The concert program spans the centuries with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Philip Glass, including a newly commissioned piano concerto by Glass. Pixies at CSMH
